All Things Considered: Eddie Adams on NPR

NPR recently profiled Eddie Adams, coinciding with the release of a new book entitled Eddie Adams: Vietnam. Two Pulitzer Prize winners, David Halberstam and Peter Arnett, contribute to the 200-page book published by Umbrage Editions. There's also an exhibit at the Umbrage Gallery in Brooklyn until April 30, 2009.

In the piece, Hal Buell, a former AP photo editor, opines, "No war was ever photographed the way Vietnam was, and no war will ever be photographed again the way Vietnam was photographed." That much is clear through Eddie's photographs.

More Eddie Adams Workshop Alumni are PDN 30s

EAW fixture, Pete Kiehart, was quick to point out that this years PDN 30 included more than just Kosuke Okahara.

Justin Maxon (Barnstorm XX), Jared Moosey (Barnstorm XXI), and Toni Greaves (Barnstorm XXI) all attended the Eddie Adams Workshop and have taken their photography to another level, and joined the ranks of other distinguished alumni who have won this distinction in the past.

Congratulations to all!

Kosuke Okahara (Barnstorm XIX) is a PDN 30

PDN's list of 30 photographers to watch has featured numerous Eddie Adams Workshop alumni and this year is no different. We send out a big congratulations to Kosuke Okahara, a self-taught, self-motivated photographer who has covered a variety of topics around the world.

His work is often difficult to view for its graphic nature, but it captures the reality of the harsh world around us like his photo essay on girls in Japan who "cut" themselves following years of abuse.

Stacy Pearsall (Barnstorm XIX) on Oprah

Few people wield influence like Oprah, so we send a huge congratulations to Stacy Pearsall for appearing on last week's episode to share some of her combat photography.

Last year, Stacy became the first woman to win the prestigious Military Photographer of the Year award twice. She has attended the workshop for the past three years helping out with logistics by volunteering her time on the Black Team.
